Job Description - Online Secondary Subject Specialist (All Subjects - QTS)

Online Secondary Subject Specialist (All Subjects - QTS)

About the Role

Are you a specialist in Humanities, MFL, the Arts, PE, or another secondary curriculum subject with a passion for digital innovation? Equal Teaching is proud to partner with one of the UK’s most respected online education providers to support their continued success and expanding curriculum.

Please note: We are building a continuous talent pool of Qualified Teachers across all subject areas. While demand fluctuates across different subjects, successful applicants will be pre-qualified and contacted immediately when specific Permanent, Fixed-Term, or Self-Employed Contractor opportunities matching their specialism arise.

This role offers you the chance to focus purely on what inspired you to become a teacher: teaching, learning, progress, and achievement. With administrative burdens removed and resources provided, you will deliver live online lessons to children and young people who need it most. During the application, we will ask you to specify your subject specialism and your preferred employment type and hours (full-time or a minimum of 3-4 days part-time).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, outcome-driven live lessons in your subject specialism.
  • Utilise the online platform effectively to create a positive learning environment.
  • Provide meaningful feedback that contributes to students’ progress.
  • Innovate and adapt curriculum materials to meet evolving student needs and educational standards.
  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is strictly required.
  • Proven teaching experience in a Secondary school environment within your subject specialism.
  • Ideally hold a current Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
  • Must provide a current international police clearance for any periods spent working abroad within the last 5 years.
  • Strong digital literacy and the ability to build relationships remotely.
  • Experience and confidence in supporting students with additional needs (SEND, SEMH).
  • A collaborative mindset, open to feedback and dedicated to professional growth.
  • A suitable, quiet home working environment with a reliable internet connection.
  • Employed Salary: £29,458 – £44,115 per annum (pro-rata for Permanent & Fixed-Term roles).
  • Contractor Rate: Earn £24.20 per 45-minute lesson (Self-Employed roles).
  • Location Independent: Work from home with your laptop and headset.
  • Curriculum Support: Benefit from comprehensive, pre-created schemes of learning.
  • Flexible Hours: Primarily between 08:30 and 17:00, allowing for a better work-life balance.
  • Professional Onboarding: Receive extensive, comprehensive training to transition your skills online.
  • Ethical Environment: Be part of a highly supportive team committed to an inclusive vision for education.
