Job Description - Outsourcing Assistant

We have several offices in Central and Southern England and have ambitious plans to expand our business. To support the organisation’s growth, we have created a new opportunity for an Outsourcing Assistant to join our Northampton Outsourcing team. This position also includes a comprehensive induction and full funding to pursue professional qualifications.Your key responsibilities will include:

Building productive working relationships within Shaw Gibbs and with clients as required
Developing and applying your technical knowledge through on the job training and formal qualifications
Using accounting software to provide accurate reporting for Managers, Partners and clients
Producing simple sets of reconciled management information for clients inclusive of profit and loss account and balance sheet
Preparing basic tax computations and returns e.g. corporation tax
Preparing monthly and quarterly VAT returns for sole traders, limited companies and partnerships
Preparing working papers including bank reconciliations, VAT reconciliations and other control account reconciliations
Helping to prepare statutory accounts and finalise accounts under the overall supervision of your Manager

We would like to hear from you if you have a minimum of 1 years’ UK experience in a practice Outsourcing team. Ideally you will be AAT qualified, with the intention of working towards becoming ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified.

We are also looking for:

A positive and confident self-starter, who understands the importance of maintaining positive client relationships as well as internal collaboration
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with an ability to work across a variety of clients during any one month
Exceptional attention to detail, demonstrating an organised approach to work; an ability to prioritise and meet tight timeframes with high quality output
An ability to apply technical accounting knowledge to real-life client situations
Knowledge of UK GAAP and desirably IFRS
Strong IT skills, specifically Xero and Excel alongside an ability to pick up new software packages very quickly
Sage and CCH experience would also be an advantage
