Job Description - Procurement Business Partner

Procurement Business Partner

Reporting to the Head of Procurement

Our client is a long-term contracts business with significant private equity investment. The investment was secured to improve their service delivery, expand their capabilities into adjacent sectors, and pursue strategic acquisitions. The company turnover doubled between 2023 and 2024, and they are on track to hit a similar growth trajectory this year. This is a new role driven by the growth trajectory and the subsequent need to further professionalise Procurement; this is in effect the No.2 role to the Head of Procurement.

Overview: You will act as the key liaison between the procurement department and other business functions, aligning procurement strategies with business goals by managing spend, building supplier relationships, and driving cost savings and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities: Include leading tender processes, negotiating contracts, analysing spend, implementing procurement systems, ensuring compliance, and influencing stakeholders to achieve value for money and strategic objectives.

Key Skills & Knowledge required:

  • Negotiation Skills: Strong ability to negotiate favourable terms and conditions with suppliers to achieve long-term value.
  • Communication & Influence: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders, influence decision-making, and facilitate meetings.
  • Project & Programme Management: Ability to lead and manage projects, including category reviews and the development of contracting pipelines.
  • Technical Expertise: Understanding of procurement processes, tender procedures, contract management, and the use of eProcurement and spend management systems.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse complex spend data, market trends, and commercial information to inform strategic decisions.

Location: Hybrid – you can be home based but must be willing and able to visit (by car) some of the company’s offices e.g. Midlands, M4 Corridor, Hampshire, Yorkshire
