Job Description - Senior Analyst (AMR)



About The Role


We are looking for a passionate, detail-oriented and dynamic team player to join FAIRR as a Senior Analyst supporting the AMR (antimicrobial resistance) workstream. In this role, you will perform data analysis and research to inform FAIRR’s work on AMR and support the day-to-day operational management and coordination of engagements with companies, investors and policy stakeholders. This includes developing proprietary research and written content, delivering data-based company assessments and supporting FAIRR’s AMR public policy engagements and coordinating the Investor Action on AMR Initiative. You will support building FAIRR’s investor members’ AMR capabilities and their understanding of AMR-related risks and opportunities linked to the food sector.
 
The candidate will be part of the AMR team, which is one of several thematic
workstreams in FAIRR’s Thematic Research & Engagement team. The goal is to enable
institutional investors to better understand how AMR presents critical risks and
opportunities to their investment portfolios, in particular regard to companies in the animal protein value chain.



Key Responsibilities


Data & Analysis
  • Deliver data analysis and research on AMR and related topics at industry, policy and company-level, emphasising financial materiality.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Thematic Research & Engagement team where needed to deliver company and sector data, research and analysis that form the backbone of FAIRR’s research and engagement.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects within the Thematic Research & Engagement team. As a close-knit and relatively small team, you may also be required to work with other parts of the FAIRR team on ad-hoc research requests, documents, or other tasks, as required and if resourcing allows
Engagement
  • Support the day-to-day operational management of FAIRR’s investor engagements under the AMR theme. With the support and guidance of the Head of AMR Programmes, this involves coordinating company engagements throughout their lifecycles. and contributing to AMR policy engagements. This includes but is not limited to preparing materials to support effective communications with investors, external stakeholders and corporate representatives to drive positive impact in line with project objectives; helping coordinate optimal investor member sign-on and company participation in the engagements; preparing materials for engagement calls; taking call notes; follow-ups; and subsequent company assessments.
  • Participate in direct dialogue with investors, policy stakeholders and companies, with the potential to take an active part with the support of the Head of AMR Programmes. Participate in webinars and events relevant to the candidate’s area of work. This can involve presenting our research to external stakeholders and representing FAIRR at in-person events and conferences in the responsible investment and sustainable food space.
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of constructive relationships with companies to ensure the success and growth of FAIRR’s company engagements. Begin building relationships with investor members and AMR policy stakeholders and support the maintenance of such relationships.
  • Support the organisation and management of any FAIRR virtual or in-person events related to AMR or other themes related to the food sector. 
Writing skills
  • Contribute to content planning and creation related to AMR and the food sector, such as reports, blogs, presentations, policy consultation responses, media, journalist requests and other written content as necessary with the support and guidance of the Head of AMR Programmes. Take an active role in supporting the planning and structure development of relevant content.




Essential Criteria


  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Demonstrable interest in the topic of AMR and One Health.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills – both qualitative and quantitative – with strong attention to detail. Experience in collating primary data to identify relevant trends, derive conclusions based on analysis and synthesis cohesive and informative deliverables.
  • Sociable and enjoys working in and contributing to a team
  • Evidence of managing competing deadlines and managing resources under time constraints.
  • Positive and proactive attitude and a confident and professional manner in dealing with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English with the ability to draft written materials to a professional standard for an investor audience with minimal review.
  • Willing to occasionally attend conference calls in different time zones outside normal working hours, and travel to conferences and events occasionally (less than 10% of the time).




Desirable Criteria


  • Strong project development and project management skills are preferable.
  • Experience engaging on sustainability issues and AMR would be a plus.
  • Understanding corporate financials and sustainability risks and opportunities.
  • Broad understanding of the sustainable investment landscape.
  • Experience working with institutional investors would be a plus.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft Office products.
  • Preferred prior experience with Salesforce and project management software like Asana.
