Salary: £32,070 - £39,165 per annum (pro rata for part time) Pay Award Pending


Working Hours: 37 hours per week


Contract Type: Fixed Term for one year with the potential for one or both roles to be extended subject to funding availability

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work in a busy, large, innovative Business Intelligence Service within Leicestershire County Council?


Have you got experience of working with data in a business intelligence, performance management, research or analytical team?


About the Role: 


These two roles will work closely with the Business Partner and Research and Insight Manager responsible for providing Business Intelligence support to the Children and Family Services Department for the Education, Inclusion and Additional Needs services.  Specific services you will likely support may include the SENA (Special Educational Needs Assessment) Service, STS (Specialist Teaching Services such as visual and hearing impairment and autism), Early Years, Educational Psychology Services and other high needs related services.


As part of the recruitment process there will be a variety of tests to ensure you have the ability to manage and visualise data from large and complex data sets held within case management systems and Business Intelligence schemas.


To apply for this post you must have:



  • A Degree (or equivalent) level in a relevant subject OR equivalent level of relevant experience

  • The skills to manage and analyse data from database to dashboard (e.g. producing charts tables, maps, dashboards and use of statistical/analytical techniques including extracting data from systems, understanding database relationships and basic knowledge of data joins)

  • Experience of presenting data and information using a variety of IT packages

  • Knowledge of specialist software that underpins the team's work areas - particularly knowledge of Tableau (or similar visualisation packages such as Power BI) would be an advantage

  • Excellent IT skills (including in Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook) and a proven ability to learn new packages as well as good literacy and numeracy skills and demonstrable effective problem-solving skills

  • Care and concern for the accuracy of information and evidence of attention to detail in working methods

  • Good presentation, written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills and good organisational skills with the ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative
