Background
We want to appoint a motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join a multidisciplinary team in the School of Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. The project will develop a new screening platform using novel soft matter 3D printing methods to create physiologically relevant cardiac tissue models.
You will hold, or be close to finishing, a PhD in cell biology, stem cell biology, tissue engineering, biomedical engineering or a related field. You must have significant hands-on experience of mammalian cell culture and a proven record in stem cell differentiation, ideally with iPSC-derived lineages. You will also need strong experience in imaging, such as confocal, fluorescence or live-cell microscopy, together with the image analysis to go with it. You will receive full training in using and developing the printing methods, so you do not need previous experience of 3D printing. We are looking for someone who can work independently and keep careful records, who communicates well and who has a track of peer-reviewed publications in line with their career stage.
