We are looking for a Research Midwife to join the Edinburgh Pregnancy Research Team (EPRT) to support clinical trials and research studies in pregnant women/people and their babies. Based in the Institute for Neuroscience and Cardiovascular Research and NHS Lothian RIE, the successful candidate will be assigned to one or more research studies, working closely with colleagues in EPRT, University of Edinburgh, NHS Lothian, and the Edinburgh Reproductive Tissue Biobank. Knowledge of the pregnancy journey and associated care from an antenatal clinic setting through to birth and beyond is essential. The post holder will have excellent communication skills and be able to plan and manage a busy workload according to the needs of the studies. They will ensure the highest standard of care is delivered to research participants, in accordance with the protocols, Good Clinical Practice Guidelines (GCP) and applicable legislation.


This post is full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time hours (minimum 21 hours per week).

A market pay supplement equivalent to 7% of salary shall be payable in addition to substantive salary. Additionally, the normal incremental pay range for this post will be points 1-9 of the published scales.   


An Honorary NHS contract will be sought for the successful post holder. You therefore must be eligible to hold an honorary contract with NHS Lothian, and must also be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council.
