At Suffolk County Council collaboration is at the heart of what we do. As a Risk and Resilience Officer in the Suffolk Resilience Forum (SRF) you’ll work with colleagues, partners, and communities to build trust, share ideas, and deliver services that make a lasting impact.

Reimagine the possibilities.

Your role and responsibilities

  • Act as a key point of contact for Category 1 and Category 2 responders, as well as other partner organisations.
  • Support the Multi-Agency Information Cell, including gathering information, analysing data, and producing clear and actionable outputs.
  • Assist with the multi-agency debrief and lessons identified process, ensuring learning is captured and incorporated into relevant SRF plans and procedures.
  • Provide effective and efficient business management and administrative support to the SRF under the direction of the SRF Partnership Manager.
  • Support Suffolk's Strategic and Tactical Coordination arrangements during emergencies and major incidents.
  • Provide secretariat support to partner agencies, including assisting with plan development, meeting coordination, training and exercise activities, and report writing.

You will need

  • A good understanding of emergency planning, resilience, and business continuity principles.
  • Experience of working collaboratively across organisations and developing effective partnerships. A background within one of our partner agencies would be advantageous.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, remain calm under pressure, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to adapt during both busy operational periods and quieter planning phases.
  • The ability to travel across Suffolk when required.

You can view a full list of requirements in the Job and Person Profile (JPP), which you can find in the ‘How to apply’ section towards the bottom of this advert.

If you believe you can succeed in this role, apply. Even if you don't meet all requirements, still apply. We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.

The team

The Suffolk Resilience Forum (SRF) supports partner organisations in meeting their responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and is hosted within Public Health, Communities and Public Safety at Suffolk County Council. Working closely with a wide range of multi-agency partners, the team provides coordination, administrative, and project support across a variety of resilience workstreams.

All members of the SRF team participate in the on-call rota, supporting major incidents across Suffolk, including the county's Tactical and Strategic Coordination Groups and the Multi-Agency Information Cell. Partnership work is primarily undertaken on Working Wednesdays, which are usually hosted at Police Headquarters, while Tuesdays are dedicated team-working days based at Endeavour House. This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of Suffolk's emergency planning and resilience arrangements, helping partners prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies that affect local communities.

Empowering Everyone

We’re big believers in potential, possibility and the power of different ideas. We’re always searching for ways to encourage, respect and enable everyone to be the best they can be. We want to represent the diverse communities we serve. We welcome applications from all individuals, especially those from groups that are currently underrepresented in the organisation, as shown in our Workforce Equality Report.
