Near Matlock – 2 Days per Week £500 per day | Established 3 bed Home – Under New Management

A highly child‑focused children’s home near Matlock is seeking an experienced Responsible Individual (RI) to provide strategic oversight, regulatory leadership and high‑quality governance for a small, rural therapeutic service. The home is established, currently supporting one child and expanding to three under new management. This part‑time RI role (2 days per week) is ideal for an experienced leader who is passionate about child‑centred practice, compliance and developing high‑quality residential care.

About the Role

As the Responsible Individual, you will provide strategic leadership, ensuring the home operates in full alignment with Ofsted regulations, organisational policies and therapeutic best practice. You will work closely with the Registered Manager to maintain high standards of safeguarding, emotional safety, staff development and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing strategic oversight and governance across the home

Ensuring full compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards

*

Supporting and supervising the Registered Manager to maintain high‑quality practice

*

Reviewing care planning, risk management and safeguarding procedures

*

Leading on regulatory readiness, including inspections, action plans and quality assurance

*

Monitoring performance, outcomes and staff development

*

Ensuring therapeutic, child‑centred practice is embedded throughout the home

*

Providing professional challenge, guidance and oversight to maintain excellence

*

Reporting to senior leadership and contributing to service development as the home expands

This role requires a confident, knowledgeable leader who can balance regulatory expectations with a warm, relational, child‑focused approach.

Requirements

*

Experience as a Responsible Individual or senior leader within children’s residential care

*

Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations, Quality Standards and Children’s Homes Regulations

*

Proven ability to lead, supervise and support Registered Managers

*

Excellent safeguarding knowledge and decision‑making skills

*

Ability to provide professional challenge and maintain high standards

*

Calm, child‑centred and therapeutic leadership style

*

NVQ Level 5 Leadership & Management (preferred) or equivalent senior experience

*

Ability to commit to 2 days per week on‑site and remote governance
