Job Description & Summary

The Independence, Conflicts & Ethics Team plays a pivotal role at the heart of One Firm Risk Management. We help ensure the firm fulfils its regulatory, ethical and operational responsibilities, maintaining the trust placed in us by clients, regulators and the public.

This team works with colleagues across the business, offering clear, practical, solutions focused advice, developing policy guidance, and monitoring compliance with both internal and external requirements. Our work ensures PwC continues to operate with integrity and confidence.

We are recruiting a Senior Associate to join a newly established Root Cause Analysis (Continuous Improvement) function within the Independence, Conflicts & Ethics team.

​What your days will look like:

• investigate and understand the root causes of non‑compliance with independence regulations, engaging with all lines of service
• recommend and help to design and implement improvements, additional controls or monitoring activities
• prepare reporting for senior leadership within the independence team and wider risk management functions
• work closely with risk management teams and client facing personnel to evaluate risks where non-compliance occurs
• contribute and support responses to our Regulator and in respect of internal quality management testing.
• monitor the success of these strategies to ensure they deliver meaningful, lasting change.

The role is for you if:

• Experience in risk management, compliance or similar disciplines (independence or audit experience is a bonus, but not required)
• Proven analytical, organisational and project management skills, with close attention to detail and quality
• Curiosity, and the confidence to challenge existing approaches to drive improvement
• Accountability and the ability to “manage upwards” where needed
• Strong stakeholder‑management skills with the ability to influence at all levels
• The ability to synthesise insights from multiple sources to make effective, evidence‑based recommendations to senior stakeholders
• Ability to manage competing priorities and demands
• A pragmatic and empathetic mindset, balancing regulatory requirements with an understanding of the pressures facing client teams
