Road Freight Operations Specialist - International Groupage & Distribution

DP World, the fast-growing transportation and logistics leader that currently manages more than 10% of world trade, is seeking an experienced Road Freight Operations Specialist (International Groupage & Distribution) to join our growing Freight Forwarding office in Bucharest, Romania.

Your Responsibilities:
 

• Planning and coordinating international LTL groupage, collection, and distribution operations.
• Analysing customer requirements and identifying efficient transport solutions that balance cost, transit time, capacity, and service quality.
• Ensuring the completeness and accuracy of TMS data, including addresses, contacts, dimensions, weights, loading metres, and chargeable weight.
• Consolidating shipments through hubs and terminals to maximise capacity utilisation and optimise operational costs.
• Coordinating international and domestic collection and distribution flows across transport networks.
• Creating and issuing transport orders to carriers before transport execution.
• Managing carrier activities and monitoring compliance with loading, unloading, and delivery deadlines.
• Tracking transport execution through Track & Trace systems and proactively addressing operational deviations.
• Monitoring operational KPIs related to transit times, on-time delivery, costs, scanning performance, and shipment visibility.
• Maintaining effective communication with customers, hubs, terminals, carriers, and distribution partners involved in daily operations.
• Verifying transport documentation and ensuring that all operational costs are recorded accurately and on time in the relevant systems.
• Coordinating multi-drop distribution and multi-pickup collection activities, managing exceptions, preparing regular operational reports, and supporting additional requirements assigned by management. 

Your Profile:

• Completed secondary education or a university degree, together with at least two years of relevant experience in international transport, logistics, groupage, distribution, or a related field.

• Solid knowledge of international LTL groupage, collection, distribution, shipment consolidation, cross-docking, logistics hubs, and distribution networks.

• Good understanding of chargeable weight, volumetric calculations, loading metres, vehicle types, transport-capacity planning, and logistics cost structures.

• Good knowledge of the European transport industry, geography, and key international logistics corridors.

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and TMS platforms, with familiarity with Track & Trace and Control Tower processes.

• English proficiency at intermediate to upper-intermediate level; additional foreign languages are considered an advantage.

• Ability to plan and coordinate a high volume of shipments, collection points, delivery points, and transport flows across hubs and distribution networks.

• Ability to identify pragmatic solutions, manage operational exceptions, make timely decisions, and optimise both costs and service levels.

• Strong self-management, planning, administrative, and prioritisation skills, with the flexibility to meet deadlines in a dynamic operational environment.

• Clear verbal and written communication skills, a customer-focused approach, and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, customers, carriers, hubs, and distribution partners.

• English proficiency at intermediate to upper-intermediate level; additional foreign languages are considered an advantage.
