Ready to take your rolling stock technician experience to the next level?

Have you got hands-on experience maintaining and fault-finding on rolling stock?

If so, TXM Recruit are working in partnership with a high-profile railway client. They are recruiting a Rolling Stock Technician – Electro-Mechanical to join their team located in the Etches Park, Derby and Cricklewood, London on a 6-month contract basis. This role is paying £25 per hour (Outside IR35).

You will carry out electro?mechanical maintenance, fault?finding, and repair work on the specific fleets. Works will primarily focus on galley defects and customer facing amenities. This is a safety?critical role where your technical skill directly supports fleet reliability, passenger safety, and daily service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Assessment – Vehicle inspections and identification of customer service defects.
Electro?Mechanical Fault Diagnosis — Investigate faulty equipment and scope repair.
Reactive Maintenance — Renewal and testing of onboard components, including but not limited to Microwaves, dishwashers, sinks, water pumps, UV sterilisers, seats, tables, litter bins and trim.
Safety & Compliance — Work to depot rules, industry standards (RIS, GM/RT), electricity at work and safety?critical procedures at all times.
Documentation — Complete maintenance records, defect reports, and engineering logs accurately and promptly.
Team Collaboration — Work closely with technicians, engineers, fleet teams, and operations to maximise fleet availability and quality.
Continuous Improvement — Identify reliability issues and contribute to engineering improvements and modifications.
Essential Skills & Experience
Electro?mechanical engineering background (electrical, mechanical, electronic, or mechatronic).
Experience in rolling stock, automotive, aerospace, defence, heavy plant, or similar engineering environments.
Strong fault?finding skills on electrical circuits and mechanical assemblies.
Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and engineering drawings.
Comfortable working shifts, including nights and weekends, in a depot environment.
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline
Main Details:
Job Title: Rolling Stock Technician – Electro-Mechanical
Location: Etches Park, Derby and Cricklewood, London (flexibility across both depots)
Contract: 6 Months
Pay Rate: £25 per hour (Outside IR35) - £200 per day
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday – Flexible Working, Late shift may be required (50 hours per week)
