Roofing Estimator

About the Role

An established roofing contractor is looking for an experienced Flat Roofing Estimator to join its team and play a key role in securing and pricing new projects.

The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge of flat roofing systems, excellent commercial awareness and the ability to accurately assess projects from initial enquiry through to quotation.

Key Responsibilities

Review and assess incoming flat roofing enquiries and tender opportunities.

Interpret drawings, specifications, schedules and project documentation.

Conduct site visits and surveys where required.

Prepare accurate and competitive estimates and quotations.

Produce detailed material, labour, plant and subcontractor costings.

Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.

Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions and potential variations.

Ensure estimates are commercially viable and meet required margin targets.

Prepare and submit tenders within agreed deadlines.

Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings where required.

Maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and subcontractors.

Support the handover of successful projects to the contracts team.

Maintain accurate records of estimates, enquiries and tender outcomes.

Keep up to date with roofing products, systems, regulations and market pricing.

About You

Proven experience estimating within the flat roofing or commercial roofing sector.

Strong understanding of flat roofing systems, materials and installation methods.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

Good commercial awareness and understanding of project margins.

Excellent attention to detail.

Strong negotiation and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.

Confident dealing with clients, main contractors, suppliers and subcontractors.

Proactive and commercially focused approach.

Desirable Experience

Commercial, industrial or large-scale flat roofing projects.

Tender portals and estimating software.

Relevant roofing or construction qualifications.

Established supplier and subcontractor relationships.

Package

£50,000–£70,000 salary, depending on experience.

Full-time permanent position.
