About the Company

An established specialist roofing contractor delivering roofing solutions across commercial and construction projects.

The business is looking to strengthen its commercial team with an experienced Estimator who can take ownership of pricing opportunities from initial enquiry through to tender submission.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced roofing estimator to join a growing specialist contractor and play an important role in securing and delivering profitable projects.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Estimator with a strong background in roofing to join the team.

You will be responsible for reviewing tender opportunities, preparing accurate estimates and developing competitive bids across a range of roofing projects.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of roofing systems, construction methods, labour, materials and subcontractor costs, with the ability to identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout the estimating process.

Key Responsibilities

Review incoming tender enquiries, drawings, specifications and scopes of work.

Assess project requirements and determine the most appropriate roofing solutions.

Prepare accurate and competitive estimates and tender submissions.

Carry out detailed take-offs and measurements from drawings and specifications.

Price labour, materials, plant, access equipment, preliminaries and subcontract packages.

Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and pricing schedules.

Issue enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors.

Obtain, analyse and negotiate competitive quotations.

Review supplier and subcontractor returns for accuracy and scope.

Identify exclusions, assumptions, risks and commercial opportunities.

Work with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the tender process.

Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings where required.

Identify value engineering and alternative roofing solutions.

Maintain accurate estimating records and pricing information.

Monitor current market rates for labour, materials and specialist roofing packages.

Prepare tender submissions within required deadlines.

Assist with handover of successful tenders to the commercial and delivery teams.

Maintain strong relationships with the supply chain.

Support the wider commercial team with estimating and pricing requirements.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Proven experience working as a Roofing Estimator or in a similar commercial estimating position.

Strong knowledge of commercial roofing systems and construction methods.

Experience pricing roofing projects from drawings and specifications.

Strong understanding of labour, material, plant and subcontractor costs.

Experience carrying out detailed quantity take-offs.

Ability to analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations.

Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project risks.

Excellent numerical and analytical skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Good negotiation and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines.

Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and estimating software.

Relevant construction or roofing qualifications would be advantageous.

A proactive and commercially focused approach.
