Job Description - Sales Director

Greenwell Gleeson have been retained to recruit a Sales Director for a PE backed medical devices business. My client boasts an array of market leading products and has a strong foothold in both the NHS and Private Medical market and with the recent investment they are looking to double turnover over the next five years. They are seeking a strategic and dynamic leader responsible for driving the sales growth and performance of the company across its product portfolio. This executive role will oversee the development and execution of sales strategies, manage key customer relationships, and lead a high-performing sales team.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Strategy Development:
* Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to drive growth and market share across multiple product lines.
* Set clear sales objectives, forecasts, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to meet or exceed revenue goals.
* Lead key account relationships and work with team to drive organic sales growth with existing customers
* Identify and win new business opportunities and markets, ensuring the company remains competitive in an evolving industry.

Team Leadership & Management:
* Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing national sales team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
* Develop and implement sales training programs to ensure the team is knowledgeable about products, market trends, and sales techniques.
* Recruit and retain top talent to build a strong sales force capable of driving results.
* Monitor individual and team performance, provide regular feedback, and ensure sales targets are met.

Customer Relationship Management:
* Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customers both within NHS trust and private healthcare sector and independents
* Develop strategies to enhance customer loyalty and retention
* Act as a point of escalation for customer concerns and issues, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and resolution.

Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis:
* Conduct regular market research and competitive analysis to identify industry trends, emerging technologies, and customer needs.
* Use data-driven insights to inform sales strategies and product offerings.

Collaboration with Other Departments:
* Collaborate closely with marketing, product development, and operations teams to ensure alignment between sales, product offerings, and customer needs.
* Work with the finance team to develop pricing strategies and discount structures that are competitive yet profitable.
* Coordinate with regulatory and compliance departments to ensure all sales activities are conducted in accordance with industry regulations.

Reporting & Analysis:
* Prepare and present regular sales reports, forecasts, and performance metrics to the executive team.
* Analyse sales data and trends to identify areas for improvement and growth.
* Adjust sales strategies as necessary to address challenges or capitalize on new opportunities.

Experience Requirements:
* Minimum of 10 years of sales experience in the medical device, or healthcare distribution industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
* Proven track record of achieving sales targets and leading successful sales teams.
* Strong understanding of the ophthalmic industry including key products, trends, and customer base is highly desirable
