Job Description - Sales Director

Our client is a well-established and highly successful construction manufacturing business based in Wellingborough, forming part of a larger, cash-rich group. Backed by significant investment, the business is entering an exciting period of growth, with ambitious plans to expand significantly over the next five years. This is a genuinely stable, secure environment, with the resources and appetite to back that ambition.
The Role
We're looking for a commercially sharp, hands-on Sales Director to take ownership of a sales function of eight, spanning both Account Management and Business Development. You'll be responsible for driving the team to consistently hit and exceed company sales targets, while keeping a close eye on the numbers that matter: revenue, margin, and performance against target.
This is a leadership role for someone who leads from the front: coaching, motivating, and holding the team accountable, while staying firmly focused on the commercial fundamentals that underpin sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, manage and develop a sales team of eight across account management and business development
* Own responsibility for the team hitting company sales targets
* Monitor and drive performance against key metrics, with a strong focus on margin
* Coach and mentor team members to improve individual and collective performance
* Set clear targets, KPIs and expectations, and hold the team accountable to them
* Report on sales performance, forecasts and margin to senior leadership
* Identify opportunities to improve sales processes and commercial performance
* Work closely with senior stakeholders to align sales strategy with the group's growth plans
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience leading and managing a sales team, ideally within manufacturing or a technical/industrial environment
* A strong, credible leader with a track record of getting the best out of people
* Highly numerate, with a genuine focus on commercial metrics such as margin, rather than just top-line sales
* Experience managing both account management and business development functions is highly desirable
* Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growth-focused business
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
