Job Description - Sales Director - South

Our vision is to give everyone the belief they can make their move. We aim to make moving simpler, by giving everyone the best place to turn to and return to for access to the tools, expertise, trust, and belief to make it happen.

We’re home to the UK’s largest choice of properties and are the go-to destination for millions of people planning their next move, reading the latest industry news, or just browsing what’s on the market.

Sales Director

Location: Home based (with travel around the South of the UK)

As the UK’s favourite property platform, Rightmove aims to give everyone the belief that they can make their move. To help us achieve this, we’re looking for a Sales Director to join our Estate Agency team

We're looking for a dynamic and experienced senior sales leader to take on a key operational role within our team. You’ll lead up to four experienced Area Directors, each accountable for high‑performing, field‑based Account Management teams. These are senior, established leaders - and success in this role relies on your ability to influence, challenge and develop them through trust, credibility and adaptability rather than directive management.

As a key member of our leadership team, you’ll play a central role in shaping and delivering our agency’s strategic plan. You'll be responsible for mentoring, developing, and guiding the Area Directors - helping them grow high-performing teams and ensuring clear, effective communication across all levels. If you're a strategic thinker with a passion for leadership and growth, we’d love to hear from you.

This role will suit a leader who enjoys complexity, values influence over control, and thrives on developing other senior leaders to reach their full potential.

What you’ll be doing

You will lead and manage the part of the UK sales teams, supporting team development, fostering key customer relationships, and driving collaboration across departments to deliver the business strategy.

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the UK sales teams to ensure smooth performance.

  • Drive the team to consistently meet or exceed pre-defined KPIs and sales targets.

  • Set clear expectations, model desired behaviours, and create an environment that supports achieving account plans and objectives.

  • Develop and support territory and area plans to align with overall sales targets.

  • Account planning discipline: prioritisation, growth planning, and execution cadence

  • Data-led planning and decision-making; turn insight into clear actions

  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint capability for performance storytelling and governance

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and influencers in the region.

  • Collaborate with other departments and lead by example in managing key accounts to deliver the business strategy.

  • Align leaders and teams through clear messaging, purpose, and priorities

  • Model desired behaviours; create an environment that supports delivery

  • Lead and develop experienced senior sales leaders, creating alignment around strategy and execution

  • Coach Area Directors to raise standards, challenge thinking and develop successors, not just deliver plans

  • Land strategic change across teams with differing levels of readiness and appetite

  • Use data to diagnose root causes, challenge assumptions and set direction, not just track performance

  • Create a strong leadership rhythm that balances pace, governance, and adaptability

Who you are

  • Proven experience in B2B sales management with a strong track record of success.

  • Skilled leader with a history of guiding large sales teams to consistently exceed targets.

  • Strong analytical and planning abilities

  • A true sales leader who goes beyond forecasting and administration to inspire and drive teams.

  • Self-motivated and independent thinker, passionate about leading teams and driving best practices for commercial success.

  • Proven experience leading senior sales leaders (manager‑of‑managers) within a complex B2B environment

  • Track record of influencing through credibility and relationship, rather than positional authority

  • Highly capable coach who uses coaching to shift behaviour, mindset and leadership impact at scale

  • Comfortable leading through ambiguity, pushback, and competing priorities

  • Data‑confident leader who uses insight to drive decisions, not just report outcomes

  • Self‑aware, adaptable leadership style - able to dial up challenge or listening as the situation demands
