Job Title: Sales Advisor
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Croydon
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm (45 hours per week)
Salary: £33,000 – £36,000 per annum (depending on experience)
 
Optima are delighted to be partnering with a respected Builders Merchant in Croydon to recruit an experienced Sales Advisor.
 
Our client has been serving the local building trade supplying a comprehensive range of products across Timber, Plumbing, Heating, Renewables, and Sanitaryware, and have built an excellent reputation for delivering outstanding customer service and expert product knowledge.
 
Key Responsibilities

Serve customers at the trade counter, providing product advice and processing sales
Assemble customer orders and assist with product collection (some lifting and carrying required)
Handle customer enquiries and orders via telephone and email
Research and source products not currently stocked to help fulfil customer requirements
Provide accurate information regarding products, pricing, and order status
Resolve customer queries efficiently and professionally
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers
Deliver a consistently high standard of customer service 
Requirements

Previous sales advisor experience
Knowledge of products within the Builders Merchant industry
Experience in both telephone sales and counter sales environments
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Strong product knowledge within building materials and associated products
Good computer literacy and administrative skills
Professional, friendly, and proactive approach
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment 
Desirable Skills

Previous sales advisor experience within the Builders Merchant industry
Understanding of product margins and profitability
Ability to calculate product quantities and measurements accurately
Knowledge of timber, plumbing, heating, renewables, or related building products
