An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Satellite Communications Engineer to join a growing spacecraft engineering team developing advanced satellite missions.

This role offers the opportunity to work across the full spacecraft lifecycle, from early concept and communications subsystem design through to integration, verification, testing and mission operations. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will play a key role in the development of mission-critical RF communications systems for next-generation spacecraft.

Key Responsibilities

Support the design, development and delivery of spacecraft communications subsystems throughout the full project lifecycle.
Define, review and maintain communications subsystem requirements, interface definitions and technical specifications.
Develop verification strategies, test plans and acceptance criteria for communications equipment and system-level validation.
Perform communications link budget analysis, RF performance modelling and operational margin assessments.
Support FMECA and FDIR activities to ensure subsystem robustness and operational resilience.
Collaborate with systems engineering, avionics, ground segment and mission operations teams to develop concepts of operation, interface documentation and verification strategies.
Plan and support subsystem and spacecraft verification activities, including RF, electrical and environmental testing, alongside Assembly, Integration and Verification (AIV) campaigns.
Support end-to-end communications testing and operational readiness with ground segment and mission operations teams.
Review RF equipment, circuit designs and PCB implementations to ensure suitability for space applications.
Work closely with external suppliers throughout specification, procurement, technical reviews and equipment acceptance.
Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation supporting design reviews and programme milestones.
Essential Experience

Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering or scientific discipline.
Minimum of 2 years' commercial experience developing satellite communications systems.
Experience modelling and simulating RF space-to-ground communications links.
Knowledge of ITU frequency licensing and regulatory constraints for satellite communications.
Experience with RF circuits, RF system design and RF testing, including environmental testing.
Experience working with RF equipment suppliers and supporting technical design reviews.
Desirable Experience

Experience handling flight hardware within cleanroom environments.
Knowledge of GNSS RF links.
Experience analysing radiation effects and radiation hardness assurance for LEO spacecraft.
Exposure to spacecraft avionics, digital electronics or on-orbit servicing technologies.
What's on Offer

Hybrid working with flexible hours and optional 9/75 working pattern.
Private healthcare, life insurance and long-term sick pay.
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service.
Relocation support may be available.
Modern engineering laboratories and cleanroom facilities.
Opportunity to work on innovative spacecraft programmes alongside an experienced multidisciplinary engineering team.
