Saw Operative

Elevation Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Sawing Operative to join a successful and well-established manufacturing business within their operations team. You’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient processing of materials through sawing operations, using a range of semi-automatic Kasto band saws.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a solid work ethic, attention to detail, and a strong team-oriented approach.

Sawing Operative

Location: Sheffield
Salary: £28,000
Hours: Rotating shifts – Mornings & Afternoons
Contract: Permanent

• Operating semi-automatic Kasto band saws in line with the production schedule
• Extracting materials using lifting equipment, including slings, cranes and FLT
• Moving jobs through the system using PDA operations
• Weighing, measuring, and inspecting materials prior to dispatch
• Packing and dispatching goods
• Part marking and deburring cut billets
• Maintaining cleanliness using floor cleaning equipment and general housekeeping
• Managing swarf and ensuring clean handovers at shift changeovers
• Monitoring and reporting maintenance requirements to the Operations Manager
• Managing coolant and blade stock levels
• Supporting other team members and assisting with wider manufacturing duties as required
• Adhering to Health & Safety standards and contributing to a positive working environment

• Previous experience operating band saws
• Overhead crane experience
• FLT licence (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong team player with a positive, can-do attitude
• Computer literate
• Willingness to support with cleaning/maintenance as required
• Experience cutting high nickel alloys (desirable)
• Time-served Kasto band saw operator (desirable)
• Previous experience in the metals industry
