ABOUT FIRST BRIDGE SCHOOL
First Bridge School is a DfE-registered specialist SEND school in Chelsea, supporting children aged 2 to 11 with autism and complex developmental needs.
We are looking for a confident, compassionate and highly organised School Administrator to join our growing team.
This is more than a traditional administration or reception role. You will be a key point of contact for parents and carers, visitors, professionals and staff. You will often be the first person a family speaks to and the first person they meet when they arrive at school, helping to create a welcoming, professional and supportive experience from the outset.
THE ROLE
As School Administrator, you will support the smooth day-to-day running of the school and provide an efficient, professional front-of-house service.
You will play an important role in school administration, admissions, parent communication, attendance, record keeping and general office operations. You will work closely with school leadership and colleagues across the school, taking ownership of administrative processes and ensuring information is accurate, timely and handled with appropriate confidentiality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage incoming calls, emails and visitor enquiries in a professional and timely manner
* Welcome and sign in visitors in line with safeguarding and school security procedures
* Maintain accurate pupil attendance records and follow up unexplained absences
* Support admissions and the onboarding of new pupils and families
* Maintain accurate pupil and staff records using the school's management information system
* Support school leadership with correspondence, scheduling, data entry and general administration
* Assist with communications to parents and carers, including letters, newsletters and appointment reminders
* Coordinate post, deliveries and courier arrangements
* Support the administration of school supplies, equipment and facilities
* Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive pupil, family and staff information
* Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
* Provide a calm, organised and professional front-of-house service
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
* Previous experience in an administrative, reception or front-of-house role
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Confident and professional telephone manner
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
* Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality
* Calm, positive and approachable manner in a busy environment
* Professional, reliable and proactive approach to work
* Strong commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
* Previous experience working in a school or educational setting
* Experience using a school management information system (MIS)
* Understanding of SEND and the needs of children and families with additional needs
* Experience working with children with autism or complex developmental needs
