Role: Art and Technology Technician 

Academy: Outwood Academy Valley

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary (Actual Salary): £21,995 to £22,304

Working Pattern: 37 Hours Per Week, Monday to Friday, Term Time only + 5 days (39 weeks)

Are you a versatile technical expert keen to support creativity and practical learning across both Art and Technology subjects? Do you possess the varied skill set necessary to manage resources, maintain equipment, and ensure safety in diverse specialist teaching environments, from workshops to kitchens? This role involves supporting teaching and learning in the Technology and Art departments on a day to day basis as directed by the Heads of Department.

The technician supports learning across Art and Technology by preparing materials, assisting with demonstrations, and managing resources, inventory, and risk assessments. Core duties ensure a safe environment: arranging regular safety inspections and maintaining tidy, hazard-free teaching rooms. Technology specific duties include basic maintenance and setting up of workshop tools, supporting CAD/CAM, and operating heat treatment facilities.

 Food duties involve managing hygiene, restocking consumables, and handling laundry. Art support includes preparing materials like clay and cutting textiles, and completing administrative paperwork for gallery visits.

Essential skills include the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences, maintain confidentiality, and utilize standard ICT packages. The individual must demonstrate excellent time management and organisation skills, coupled with the ability to prioritise their own workload.
