We’re looking for a proactive and experienced School Business Manager with strong financial and business skills to join a well-known primary school within the Wirral area. This is a vital role at the heart of the school, offering the chance to shape daily operations and contribute to the smooth running of the school from a Business Management and Financial perspective.
As a School Business Manager, you’ll work closely with the Headteacher and wider admin team to oversee financial processes, manage office systems, and ensure compliance with school policies. You’ll lead on day-to-day finance tasks, such as budget tracking, invoicing, project management and procurement while helping the school make the best use of its resources to support pupils and staff.
Key responsibilities will include:
Strategic Financial Leadership – Lead the development, monitoring, and reporting of the school’s budget. Provide financial support to the Headteacher and Governors, ensuring long-term financial sustainability and value for money. Financial Compliance and Risk Management – Ensure robust financial controls are in place and that the school complies with all statutory and regulatory requirements. Procurement and Contracts – Oversee procurement processes, manage contracts, and ensure effective asset management. Community Engagement – Promote the school’s profile and reputation within the local community. What We’re Looking For
A relevant qualification in business or financial management Experience of working with school systems such as SIMS, FMS, Arbor, Access or PS financials. Experience working within an educational setting. Strong leadership and people management skills. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. A proactive, flexible, and resilient approach Only candidates based in UK and eligible to work in UK are allowed
