About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive School Business Manager to oversee the school’s financial, operational, and administrative functions. This is a key leadership position, working closely with the Headteacher and Governors to ensure the school continues to operate efficiently and strategically.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead on all financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting


• Oversee HR, facilities, and health & safety operations


• Manage contracts, procurement, and compliance with relevant regulations


• Support the Headteacher with strategic planning and resource management


• Liaise with external auditors, local authorities, and stakeholders

Experience and Qualifications

• Proven experience in a School Business Manager, Bursar, or finance leadership role within an independent or educational setting


• Strong financial acumen and understanding of school budgets and compliance


• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills


• Proficiency in finance software (e.g., FMS, Sage, or similar)


• Relevant professional qualification (e.g., DSBM, accountancy, or business management)
