School Caretaker - Independent School

Location: Camden
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Salary: £27,000 - £35,000 (depending on experience)

About the Role:

You'll be responsible for supporting the safety, upkeep, and daily operations of the school site. Working closely with the Estates or Facilities Manager, you'll help maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment, ensuring a clean, secure, and well-functioning environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Core Responsibilities:

• Day-to-day site maintenance, repairs, and inspections
• General upkeep of grounds, classrooms, and communal spaces
• Supporting school events and room setups
• Ensuring site security and responding to alarms or emergencies
• Maintaining safe working practices in line with school safeguarding and H&S procedures

What We're Looking For:

• Experience in a caretaking or facilities-based role (school experience desirable)
• Strong practical/DIY skills (painting, small repairs, basic plumbing, etc.)
• A proactive, hands-on approach and strong sense of responsibility
• Good understanding of health & safety in a working environment

Desirable:

• Confidence overseeing compliance tasks (fire safety, water checks, H&S checks)
• Experience liaising with contractors or external maintenance teams
• Ability to assist in planning maintenance projects
• Familiarity with record-keeping systems or digital compliance logs
