School Cleaner

1 Month Contract With A Local Authority

To provide high-quality cleaning services within a primary school environment, ensuring all areas are maintained to a safe, clean and hygienic standard for pupils, staff and visitors.

The postholder will undertake a range of cleaning duties across classrooms, communal areas, offices and washroom facilities, contributing to a clean, safe and welcoming learning environment whilst adhering to health and safety and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out daily cleaning duties across the school premises.
  
  
  


• Empty waste bins and dispose of waste appropriately.
  
  
  


• Vacuum carpets and floor coverings.
  
  
  


• Sweep, mop and maintain hard floor surfaces.
  
  
  


• Dust and wipe desks, furniture, fixtures and fittings.
  
  
  


• Clean and sanitise touch points and frequently used surfaces.
  
  
  


• Clean and maintain washrooms, toilets and handwashing facilities.
  
  
  


• Replenish consumables such as soap, toilet rolls and paper towels as required.
  
  
  


• Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed to agreed standards and schedules.
  
  
  


• Safely use cleaning chemicals, equipment and materials.
  
  
  


• Report maintenance issues, defects or health and safety concerns.
  
  
  


• Follow COSHH, health and safety and school procedures at all times.
  
  
  


• Maintain a professional and reliable approach.
  
  
  


• Support the creation of a safe and hygienic environment for pupils and staff.
  
  
  

Requirements

Essential

• Previous cleaning experience within schools, educational settings, offices or commercial buildings.
  
  
  


• Good attention to detail.
  
  
  


• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  
  
  


• Understanding of cleaning and hygiene standards.
  
  
  


• Reliable and punctual approach.
  
  
  


• Ability to undertake physical cleaning duties.
  
  
  


• Good communication skills.
  
  
  


• Enhanced DBS clearance is required.

• Experience working within a school environment.
