School Cook/Chef

The Education Specialists are looking for a Chef/Cook for one of our schools in Failsworth OL8, Manchester with an immediate start.

We are looking for someone who is confident running a busy school kitchen and can prepare and serve fresh, nutritious meals for pupils and staff while maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene and kitchen organisation.

The Role

As the School Chef / Cook, your duties will include:

Preparing and cooking nutritious meals for pupils and staff

*

Planning and following menus, including catering for dietary requirements and allergens

*

Ensuring food is prepared and served safely and on time

*

Managing portion control and minimising food waste

*

Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and food hygiene

*

Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering

*

Ensuring all food safety, hygiene and health & safety procedures are followed

*

Working effectively with other members of the catering team

*

Creating a welcoming and positive lunchtime experience for pupils

We are looking for someone who:

*

Has previous experience working as a Chef, Cook or Catering Supervisor

*

Is confident preparing meals in volume

*

Has a good understanding of food hygiene, allergens and dietary requirements

*

Is organised, reliable and able to work well under pressure

*

Can work independently as well as part of a team

*

Takes pride in producing good-quality, nutritious food

*

Has excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene

Previous experience working within a school, education or similar high-volume catering environment would be highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be required to complete the relevant safeguarding and compliance checks required to work within a school.

Hours of work:

The role will be required for someone to be flexible between 7am and 3pm, MOnday to Friday.

DBS Requirements:

Due to working wihtin a school, you will be required to hold an enhanced DBS that covers adults and children that is on the update service.

If you do not hold a DBS, you will need to be willing to complete an application for a DBS as part of the registration process
