Job Description - School Finance and Admin Officer
Finance and Administration Officer Location: Redbridge Contract Type: Permanent Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday Working Weeks: 41 weeks per year (term time plus 3 weeks) Salary: £30,765 to £31,688 - Pro rata Start Date: As soon as possible The Role The Finance and Administration Officer will play a key role in supporting both the financial and administrative functions of a thriving primary school. The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative office team, ensuring high standards of financial administration and customer service. Key ResponsibilitiesFinance Support effective financial systems, accountability, and budget monitoring within the school. Process purchase orders, invoices, and payments using the school's finance system. Manage petty cash transactions and maintain accurate financial records. Support the administration and monitoring of government grants, including Pupil Premium and Sports Premium funding. Assist with income and expenditure relating to school trips, lettings, and fundraising activities. Support cash collection, reconciliation, and banking procedures. Assist with monthly and year-end financial processes, including audit requirements. Ensure compliance with financial policies, delegated authority procedures, and relevant financial standards.Administration Provide administrative and reception support as part of the school office team. Respond to enquiries from parents, staff, and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner. Support the leadership team with a range of administrative tasks. Maintain accurate records and systems, including inventory management. Contribute to the efficient day-to-day operation of the school office and wider school activities.Person SpecificationThe ideal candidate will:
Have experience in financial administration, ideally within a school, education, or public sector setting. Demonstrate excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail. Be confident using financial and administrative systems. Be able to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a busy environment. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
