We're looking for an enthusiastic and committed Science / PE Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in the Ilford area. This role involves teaching pupils aged 11-19 with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), SLD, and associated learning difficulties. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about making learning engaging, accessible, and meaningful for young people with additional needs.
Science / PE Teacher Role
Delivering engaging Science and PE lessons tailored to pupil's individual needs and abilities Planning and adapting lessons to ensure all students can access and enjoy the curriculum Supporting student's academic, social, emotional, and physical development Creating a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment Managing behaviour positively and effectively in line with school policies Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and wider school staff Monitoring, assessing, and tracking student progress Building strong relationships with pupils to promote confidence, independence, and well being
Science / PE Teacher Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) is preferred but not required Experience teaching Science and/or PE across secondary age ranges A strong understanding of SEN, Autism, SEMH, or additional learning needs (desirable) Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills The ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs Strong communication and teamwork skills A positive, resilient, and proactive approach SEN school experience is desirable but not essentialThis role would suit an experienced Science or PE Teacher looking to move into SEN education, or a teacher already working within specialist provisions who is looking for a new challenge.
