Science Technician

A welcoming Primary School in Stockport is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Science Technician to support the delivery of engaging science lessons on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong practical skills who enjoys working in an educational environment and is passionate about supporting children's curiosity and enthusiasm for science. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to ensure practical activities are prepared safely and efficiently while maintaining an organised and well-equipped science resource area.

You will prepare materials and equipment for practical lessons, organise resources for classroom investigations and ensure all apparatus is cleaned, stored and maintained to a high standard. Working alongside teachers, you will support practical activities, helping to create exciting learning experiences that encourage pupils to explore scientific concepts through hands-on investigation.

Responsibilities include monitoring stock levels, ordering resources, maintaining equipment, organising storage areas and ensuring all practical activities comply with health and safety regulations. You will also assist with science-themed events, STEM enrichment activities and whole-school science projects throughout the academic year.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organisational skills, a proactive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers while supporting the delivery of an engaging science curriculum.

Requirements

• Previous Science Technician or laboratory experience desirable

• Good practical science knowledge

• Strong organisational skills

• Understanding of laboratory and classroom health and safety

• Ability to prepare and maintain equipment

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

• Passion for supporting practical science education
