Science Technician | Richmond | October Start

October 2026 | Full-Time | Monday to Friday | 35–37 hours per week | Permanent

A high-performing secondary school in Richmond upon Thames is looking for a Science Technician to join its established science department on a permanent basis.

You’ll work closely with teaching staff to make sure practical lessons run smoothly, from preparing equipment and materials through to maintaining laboratories and managing stock.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare practical equipment, chemicals and materials for lessons.

• Set up and clear away experiments and demonstrations.

• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure resources are available.

• Support teachers during practical lessons.

• Monitor stock and assist with ordering supplies.

• Keep laboratories clean, organised and safe.

• Follow all relevant health and safety and COSHH procedures.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous Science Technician or relevant laboratory experience.

• Good practical knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics.

• Understanding of laboratory safety and chemical handling.

• Organised, reliable and able to work independently.

• Good attention to detail and time management.

• Comfortable working in a busy school environment.

Experience with GCSE and A-Level practical work would be an advantage.

Working Hours

The role will generally follow school opening times, with a typical pattern of Monday to Thursday, 8:30am–4:30pm, and Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm.
