Science Technician Role- Newcastle

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a Science Technician to join a well-resourced and supportive secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for science who enjoys working in an educational environment and wants to play a key role within a busy Science department.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and set up equipment, resources, and materials for practical Science lessons
Support the delivery of experiments across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure the science preparation room remains organised and fully stocked
Monitor and uphold health and safety procedures within the department
Assist with stock control, ordering supplies, and maintaining accurate records
Safely store and dispose of chemicals and materials in accordance with COSHH regulations
Provide practical support to teaching staff where required
Requirements

A degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related Science subject is desirable
Previous laboratory experience or knowledge of scientific procedures
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
A proactive, methodical, and safety-focused approach to work
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
