Job Responsibilities
Provide SEMH and behaviour outreach support to mainstream schools to improve inclusion and reduce suspensions and permanent exclusions.
Support schools to identify pupils with SEMH needs early and implement effective intervention strategies.
Coordinate and deliver the Experts at Hand model, ensuring timely access to specialist SEMH advice and support.
Manage a caseload of pupils with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges or those at risk of exclusion.
Work collaboratively with schools, families and multi-agency professionals to develop coordinated support plans.
Deliver training, coaching and professional development for teachers, SENCOs, inclusion leads and pastoral staff.
Support schools to develop inclusive behaviour policies, SEMH strategies and whole-school approaches.
Analyse attendance, behaviour, suspension and exclusion data to inform interventions and service improvement.
Support reintegration of pupils through the Fair Access Panel and alternative provision pathways.
Facilitate school-to-school collaboration and share best practice across educational settings.
Contribute to strategic planning, service development and implementation of SEND and Alternative Provision reforms.
Attend inclusion panels, multi-agency meetings and tribunals where required.
Produce reports, monitor outcomes and evaluate the impact of SEMH interventions.
Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion and high-quality customer service in all aspects of the role.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or equivalent secondary teaching qualification.
SENCO qualification, senior leadership experience in inclusion/SEMH, or equivalent experience leading whole-school inclusion and behaviour provision.
Essential Knowledge
Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, exclusions, suspensions, Alternative Provision and statutory guidance.
Excellent understanding of SEMH, behaviour support, trauma-informed practice and early intervention.
Knowledge of safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusive education.
Understanding of SEND and Alternative Provision reforms and evidence-based inclusive practice.
Knowledge of multi-agency working and delivering coordinated support for children and young people.
Essential Experience
Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs and those at risk of suspension or exclusion.
Experience delivering behaviour and SEMH interventions within secondary education.
Experience designing and delivering training, coaching and CPD for school staff.
Experience analysing attendance, behaviour and exclusion data to improve outcomes.
Experience managing a varied caseload and coordinating outreach services.
Experience working collaboratively with education, health, social care and other partner agencies.
Experience advising senior leaders, SENCOs and inclusion teams on behaviour and inclusion strategies.
Experience contributing to strategic planning, service improvement and inclusion initiatives.
Experience supervising projects, staff or workstreams and supporting quality assurance.
