SENDCo – Be Part of Something New and Inspiring
Location: Merstham, Surrey
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £33,075 - £48,719 (M1 – UPS2 Fringe)
Hours: 40 hours per week

We’re excited to be launching a brand-new Secondary School in Merstham, designed specifically for neurodivergent young people aged 11–16. The school will support up to 100 pupils—80 at our main site and 20 at a smaller satellite site in Caterham. This is a rare opportunity to be part of something from the very beginning, and we’re looking for a dedicated and experienced SENDCo to join our founding team.

If you’re passionate about inclusive education and want to help shape a school that truly meets the needs of its pupils, we’d love to hear from you.

[Interviews will be held during the half-term break.]

What the Role Involves:

  • Supporting the day-to-day running of the school, ensuring it’s a welcoming, inclusive, and well-resourced environment.
  • Acting as Deputy Exam Officer, working with staff to ensure all exam processes meet JCQ requirements.
  • Helping pupils identify meaningful post-16 pathways and supporting their transitions.
  • Overseeing the implementation of EHCPs and ensuring our SEND provision is compliant and effective.
  • Managing staffing, resources, and policies to support SEND provision.
  • Building strong relationships with families, staff, external agencies, and local authorities.
  • Supporting the Head of School in developing our SEN strategy and leading our therapy provision.
  • Taking an active role in safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Essential: QTS or QTLS, with experience teaching creatively within SEND or relevant key stages.
  • A background in leadership within inclusion or SEND, with a proven track record of raising standards.
  • Confidence in managing complex situations and working collaboratively with a team.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Desirable: Additional qualifications in SEND (e.g. Autism, Dyslexia), leadership training (NPQSL/H/SENDCo), or a willingness to complete these within two years.

What We Offer:

  • Life assurance and a competitive pension scheme
  • Access to Perkbox – with discounts on high street brands
  • Employee assistance programme for wellbeing support
  • Car lease and cycle-to-work schemes
  • Fully funded training and qualifications
  • Free membership to our health cashback plan – covering dental, optical, physiotherapy, and more

How to Apply:

If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, please submit your CV or successfully refer someone you know to this role and earn up to £300 in referral rewards. The application deadline is 11pm on Sunday, 26th May 2025.
