Job Description - SEMH Teacher

SEMH Teacher

Location: Milton Keynes | Start date: September 2025 | Salary: Up to £39,500 | Full-Time, Permanent

Reed Education are thrilled to be supporting the launch of a brand-new independent day school opening in September 2025 in Milton Keynes. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the founding team of a purpose-built, 90-place school for pupils aged 7-19 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated SEND.

The focus is on therapeutic, child-centred education that empowers every learner. Pupils may also have Autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, or other complex needs. The school’s trauma-informed approach ensures that every child is supported holistically—academically, emotionally, and socially.

About the Role:

We are seeking qualified teachers (QTS or QTLS) from a range of subject backgrounds who are passionate about making a difference. Whether your expertise lies in core subjects or creative disciplines, what matters most is your ability to build strong, nurturing relationships and deliver engaging, meaningful learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
  • Build positive, professional relationships with students
  • Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour management
  • Create real-world, relevant learning opportunities that inspire curiosity
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the wider school culture
  • Participate in therapeutic training and reflective practice
What We’re Looking For:
  • QTS or QTLS qualification
  • Experience or strong interest in working with SEMH and SEND pupils
  • A flexible, empathetic, and child-centred approach
  • High aspirations for all learners, regardless of their starting point
  • Creativity, resilience, and a collaborative mindset
Benefits:
  • Be part of shaping a brand-new school from the ground up
  • Competitive salary and enhanced occupational sickness scheme
  • Staff laptop and mobile phone provided
  • Extensive training and professional development opportunities
  • Small class sizes with specialist TA support
  • Flexible pension scheme
  • Regular therapeutic supervision and wellbeing support
  • Access to employee benefits including wellbeing services, salary sacrifice schemes, and discounts on high street brands and dining

This is more than just a teaching role—it’s a chance to be part of something truly special from day one. If you’re ready to help build a school that puts children first and values your voice, we’d love to hear from you.
