The schools mission is to work with young people aged 11-16 who may have been disengaged from education due to childhood trauma or other adverse experiences. We believe that every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential, and our trauma-informed, nurturing approach is designed to help them do exactly that.
The students are at the heart of everything the school does. They offer a bespoke curriculum and small class sizes to ensure a personalised and effective learning experience. More importantly, the primary focus is on building secure and trusting relationships. The school uses a 'primary model' where students have a consistent teacher and mentor, which creates a stable, secure, and familiar environment where they can thrive.
Your new role

We are seeking an inspiring, compassionate, and resilient SEMH Primary Teacher. In this role, you will deliver highly adaptive, Quality First teaching. You will be responsible for balancing a creative primary curriculum with therapeutic, trauma-informed support. The children are 11 - 16 years old but working at a Primary level.
Your students may present with a variety of overlapping needs, including attachment difficulties, ADHD, ASC, and sensory processing needs. You will focus heavily on building trusting relationships, helping children develop emotional regulation, and scaffolding their learning so they can experience academic and personal success.

Key Responsibilities

Inclusive Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, highly differentiated lessons adapted to the diverse learning and developmental needs of primary-ability students.
Emotional Regulation Support: Create a structured, low-arousal classroom environment that promotes positive behavior, resilience, and social skills using restorative approaches.
Trauma-Informed Practice: Apply a deep understanding of attachment and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) to recognize and de-escalate emotional distress or crisis safely.
Collaborative Planning: Work closely with specialized Teaching Assistants, speech and language therapists, families, and multi-agency professionals to deliver targeted support plans.
Assessment & Tracking: Design and implement individual education plans (IEPs), behavior support plans, and risk assessments to map holistic pupil progress.
