Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant - Dunstable
Location: Dunstable, Bedfordshire
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Contract: Full-time
Start Date: ASAP

We are looking for a patient, resilient and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a primary school supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in the Dunstable area.

This role would suit someone who genuinely wants to work within an SEMH setting and is committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning and develop both academically and personally.

The Role
You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to support pupils with a range of SEMH needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting pupils within the classroom and throughout the school day.

Helping children to engage with learning and school activities.

Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour.

Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.

Encouraging positive behaviour and appropriate boundaries.

Providing reassurance and consistency during challenging situations.

Working as part of a supportive and professional school team.

Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and resilience.

What We Are Looking For
Previous experience working within an SEMH, SEN, education, youth work, care or similar setting is desirable but not essential.

Most importantly, you will need:

You must also be safeguarding literate and willing to successfully complete all required safeguarding and pre-employment vetting checks.

This is a full-time, Monday to Friday position, 8:30am - 3:30pm.
