SEMH Teaching Assistant - Somerset

A specialist independent school in Somerset is looking for dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their supportive team, working with students aged 10-18 who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism, and other additional learning needs.

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key part in helping students thrive—both academically and personally. Working alongside teachers and therapists, you’ll provide personalised, hands-on support in both the classroom and 1:1 settings to help build confidence, independence, and positive routines.

• Support students across a variety of subjects and activities

• Provide focused 1:1 and small group support to meet individual learning needs

• Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage student engagement

• Promote consistent, supportive behaviour management

• Assist with classroom planning, preparation, and organisation

• Experience working with young people with SEMH or additional needs (school, youth work, or care settings)

• Calm, patient, and resilient mindset
