Are you an experienced Maths Tutor who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning?
We are recruiting for an In-School Maths Tutor to work with a small group of secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by delivering engaging Maths lessons in a supportive specialist setting.
The Role
You will teach a group of up to 8 students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering Maths lessons using the White Rose Maths scheme. Planning requirements are minimal, with lessons adapted to meet the needs and abilities of the students rather than created from scratch.
Working hours are 9:00am – 11:00am, allowing time for preparation and lesson set-up each day. Teaching will typically take place from 9:15am – 10:00am and 10:00am – 10:45am.
This role initially offers 2 hours per day, with the potential for additional hours from December as the provision expands.
Responsibilities
Deliver engaging Maths lessons to KS3 and KS4 students with SEMH needs. Adapt White Rose Maths resources to meet individual learning needs. Teach students working towards and up to Higher GCSE Maths. Create a calm, structured and engaging learning environment that supports progress. Build positive relationships with students and use effective behaviour management strategies to encourage engagement. Monitor student progress and provide feedback where required. Requirements
Experience teaching or tutoring Maths to secondary-aged students is essential. Confident teaching KS3, KS4 and Higher GCSE Maths. Experience supporting students with SEMH or other additional needs is highly desirable. Students can present with extremely challenging behaviour, so resilience, patience and a calm, consistent approach are essential. The successful candidate must be confident managing behaviours positively while maintaining high expectations. Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to engage learners who may have experienced barriers to education. A teaching qualification (QTS, PGCE or equivalent) is preferred but not essential. Candidates with relevant tutoring or teaching experience are encouraged to apply. What We Offer
