Semi Senior Accountant

A long-established and growing accountancy practice based in West Yorkshire is currently seeking a Part-Qualified / Semi Senior Accountant to join their team. This is a full-time, permanent, office-based role offering excellent career progression and exposure to a varied portfolio of SME clients.

• Manage a dedicated portfolio of SME clients across various industries
• Perform day-to-day bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records
• Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
• Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts
• Support senior accountants with year-end accounts and tax return preparation
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
• Liaise directly with clients via phone, email, and face-to-face meetings
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication
• Collaborate closely with senior team members to ensure service quality
• Apply strong technical knowledge alongside effective interpersonal skills

• Minimum of 2 years' experience within a UK-based accountancy practice
• Competent in preparing management accounts, VAT returns, and maintaining ledgers
• Familiarity with software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Excel, Outlook, and Dext
• Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and UK tax/VAT compliance
• Experience supporting year-end accounts preparation for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Excellent organisational, communication, and time management skills

• Salary: £26,000 - £29,000 per annum (depending on experience)
