Semi Senior Accountant

A Semi Senior Accountant is sought for a firm of chartered accountants with a strong reputation locally in Sheffield.

Your role will focus supporting a broad range of owner-managed businesses across Yorkshire.

This is a key appointment in their growing team, offering a varied role across accounts preparation, tax and client liaison. It would suit someone with a grounding in accountancy practice who is looking to build on their experience in a supportive and well-structured firm.

The role will involve:

• Preparing year-end accounts under UK GAAP from both manual and computerised records, covering a range of clients including limited companies, LLPs, partnerships and sole traders
• Assisting with statutory audits, carrying out testing and audit procedures under the guidance of the audit manager
• Supporting the delivery of other assurance assignments, such as grant audits for public sector bodies and solicitor accounts reporting
• Handling bookkeeping and VAT compliance duties, with occasional preparation of management accounts where required
• Liaising directly with clients and colleagues — the role requires clear communication, a proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team
• Managing day-to-day client communication, including phone calls, emails and written correspondence
• Upholding professional standards and always acting in the best interests of the firm, helping to maintain a positive image in dealings with clients, third parties and colleagues

Salary: £28,000 - £34,000

You’ll likely be AAT qualified or studying towards ACA / ACCA, with at least 2 years’ experience in practice. Study support is available for those looking to continue with their exams.
