The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Semi-Senior Accountant to join our growing finance team, supporting the preparation of month-end management accounts and providing high-quality accounting services to our expanding portfolio of clients.

Initially, you'll work closely with our senior team to assist with the production of management accounts, bookkeeping reviews, VAT returns and other month-end accounting processes, while gaining exposure to a broad range of businesses across multiple sectors.

As Carter Bond continues to grow, we have ambitious plans to establish a dedicated Tax Department. This role has been designed with that future in mind, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to play a key role in its development. Over time, you'll have the opportunity to transition into personal tax, supporting our growing portfolio of CIS contractors with self-assessment tax returns, before expanding into wider tax advisory and corporate tax services as the department evolves.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for an experienced accountant who enjoys taking ownership and wants to help build something.

You'll ideally have:

· AAT / ACA / ACCA part-qualified or fully qualified

· Minimum 3+ years' experience within an accountancy practice or similar environment.

· Confident compiling year-end accounts for sole traders (essential) partnerships, and limited companies (desirable)

· Handling VAT returns, MTD, and CIS submissions

· Reviewing bookkeeping and supporting junior staff where needed

· Preparing monthly/quarterly management accounts and financial reporting processes

· Cashflow forecasting and budgeting

· Excellent knowledge of Xero (essential).

· Experience managing multiple client accounts and deadlines.

· Strong Excel and spreadsheet management skills.

· Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.

· A proactive, process-driven approach to continuous improvement.

Desirable:

· Experience using Sage.

· Previous experience managing or mentoring staff.
