Are you an experienced or aspiring SEN teacher who's ready to make a meaningful difference? Do you want to work in a school that puts inclusion, wellbeing, and individual growth at the centre of its approach?

Long Term Futures is working with a well-established special school in Birmingham catering to students aged 11-19 with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, and associated learning differences. The school provides a structured, caring environment and is part of a wider trust that champions high-quality, inclusive education for young people with special educational needs.

The Role:
This is a full-time SEN teaching position within a secondary and post-16 setting. You'll take the lead in a small, well-supported class group, delivering highly differentiated lessons tailored to each pupil's EHCP. The role offers the opportunity to foster meaningful progress, independence, and confidence in learners with a wide range of needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, personalised lessons across a variety of ability levels

  • Maintain a calm, consistent, and supportive classroom environment

  • Support students with ASD, SEMH, and complex needs using evidence-based approaches

  • Work closely with therapists, pastoral staff, and families to review and adapt learning plans

  • Encourage emotional regulation, communication, and independence through a holistic, student-centred approach

  • Track pupil progress effectively and contribute to annual reviews and reporting

What We're Looking For:

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) is essential

  • Experience in an SEN or inclusive secondary/post-16 setting is highly desirable

  • Strong understanding of neurodiversity, emotional development, and curriculum adaptation

  • Positive behaviour management skills and a collaborative approach

  • A genuine passion for working with young people with additional needs

Why Join Long Term Futures?

  • Access to specialist SEN teaching opportunities across the Midlands

  • Transparent PAYE payments - no umbrella deductions

  • Trial days available to help find the right school fit

  • CPD opportunities focused on SEN and inclusive practice

  • Personalised support from experienced, SEN-focused education consultants

If you're committed to creating meaningful learning experiences and helping every young person thrive - we'd love to hear from you.

Apply now or get in touch with Long Term Futures for more information.

All applicants must hold (or be willing to apply for) an enhanced DBS and share our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
