Full-Time Cover Supervisor – Specialist School, Southampton

Contract: Full-time, long-term with the potential to become permanent
Salary: £100 - £130 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cover Supervisor to join a specialist school in Southampton, supporting students with additional needs. This is a full-time position, with the school looking to offer a permanent contract to the right candidate following a successful placement.

This role would suit individuals who are passionate about supporting young people and are looking to develop their experience within a specialist educational setting.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will support the delivery of learning across the school, supervising classes during teacher absence and assisting students with their educational and emotional development. You will work closely with teaching staff and support teams to ensure pupils remain engaged, safe, and supported throughout the school day.

The school caters for students with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEMH needs, and associated learning difficulties.

Responsibilities

Deliver pre-prepared lessons in the teacher's absence
Support students with additional learning and behavioural needs
Maintain a calm, structured, and positive learning environment
Encourage student engagement and participation
Build positive relationships with students and staff
Follow individual support plans and behaviour strategies where required
Contribute to the safeguarding and wellbeing of all learners

Person Specification

Experience working with children or young people is desirable
Previous school or SEN experience is advantageous but not essential
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
