Are you a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant looking for your next opportunity? Empowering Learning is working with a welcoming secondary school in Darlington to recruit a committed LSA to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a student with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential within a supportive school environment.
Your Role
As a Secondary Learning Support Assistant, you will:
Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with SEN throughout the school day.
Support the student's academic, social and emotional development.
Adapt learning activities to meet the student's individual needs.
Encourage independence while providing appropriate guidance and reassurance.
Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff to implement personalised support strategies.
Promote positive behaviour and help create an inclusive learning environment.
Build a positive, trusting relationship that enables the student to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs, either in a school or similar setting.
A patient, caring and resilient approach.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to remain calm and adaptable in different situations.
A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
Team Teach training (desirable but not essential).
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.
