Our client is seeking a caring, reliable Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a 19-year-old young woman with Down Syndrome. Working alongside her teacher and wider therapy team, you will support her with daily living skills, safe mealtime supervision, community outings and enrichment activities, helping her build confidence and independence.
Key Responsibilities
* Support daily living skills: making lunch, dressing, personal care routines
* Close mealtime supervision (history of choking; food must be cut appropriately)
* Accompany on community outings: shopping, bus travel, road safety practice
* Support engagement during lessons and enrichment activities (Zumba, swimming, cooking, performing arts)
* Use visual aids and consistent routines to support communication and regulation
* Provide warm, encouraging companionship that builds confidence
Requirements
* Experience as an LSA, TA, carer or similar (training available for the right candidate)
* Patient, upbeat, comfortable with routine and repetition
* Physically able to support with mobility and community-based activities
* Enhanced DBS (or willing to obtain); full UK driving licence preferred Only candidates based in UK and eligible to work in UK are allowed
