SEN Practitioner – Primary Education Support - Somerset: Primary SEND & Mainstream Inclusion Settings
£96 - £110 September 2026
About the Role Connex Education are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable SEN Practitioner – Primary Education Support to work across a range of primary schools and specialist provisions in Somerset.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early intervention, inclusion, and helping children with additional needs access learning in a way that works for them. You will play a key role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally, ensuring they can thrive in a nurturing and structured environment.
Connex is also exclusively supporting Bath & Wells Multi Academy Trust from September, so opportunities in these schools will also be available. They have several primary schools based in Bridgewater, Taunton and Yeovil.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with a range of additional learning needs in primary settings Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions Assist with planning and adapting learning activities to meet individual needs Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals Encourage communication, independence, and engagement in learning Help maintain a calm, inclusive and supportive classroom environment How Pupils May Present (Primary SEN Needs) You will be working with children who may present with a wide range of needs across communication, learning, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
Pupils may:
Be diagnosed with Autism (ASC) and require structured routines and visual support Present with ADHD, showing difficulties with attention, impulse control, or hyperactivity Experience Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), requiring simplified instructions or alternative communication methods Have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including anxiety, low self-esteem, or difficulty managing emotions Struggle with transitions, changes in routine, or sensory sensitivities Require support to access learning at a developmentally appropriate level Benefit from consistent reinforcement, positive behaviour strategies, and nurturing relationships Your role is to understand behaviour as communication and to support each child in developing confidence, regulation skills, and a positive experience of school.
