SEN Teacher

Title: SEN Science Teacher

Timings: 8:30am - 4:15pm

Location: London

A wonderful SEN school with excellent staff retention is looking for an experienced SEN Science Teacher to join their team. The school is a well established secondary school that is due to expand in the new academic year, due to this they are looking for passionate educators to help along their journey of growth. Based in a great location, with the school being super close to a train station the commute is made easy from multiple locations.

Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent delivery, teaching and course leadership to learners across the school.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of the children and young people we support.
• Work with pupils to ensure they receive a service that delivers the outcomes specified in their individualised learning, person-centred plans.
• Prepare and deliver schemes of work, lesson plans, assignments and assessments in line with departmental and awarding body requirements.
• Work collaboratively with allied health professionals as part of a trans-disciplinary team.

Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status.
• Relevant degree.
• Special needs qualification or additional training/experience.
• Excellent knowledge of the National Curriculum and how it translates into teaching and learning activities for young people with special needs.
• Clear understanding of child development, learning and children with SEN and associated special educational needs.
• Demonstrable knowledge of excellent practice in terms of; curriculum planning, development, assessment, recording and reporting of pupil progress and outcomes. Including how this might prepare pupils for external examinations, awards or qualifications.
• Understanding and experience of providing emotional regulation support and using pro-active strategies to reduce dysregulation and behaviours of distress; and/or a commitment to increase own personal knowledge in this area of evidence-based approaches.
• Good understanding and experience of managing health and safety arrangements in the workplace and off-site/beyond the classroom.
• Knowledge of inclusion and the SEND Code of Practice.
• Demonstrable understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in relation to the role of class teacher.
