Job Description - Sen Teacher

SEN Teacher

Location: Ribchester
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm (40 hours per week)
Start Date: September 2026

We are recruiting on behalf of a fantastic specialist education setting in Ribchester that is seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join their team on a permanent basis from September.

This rewarding role involves supporting children aged 8–9 years with Autism and other related needs. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, child-centred learning experiences, adapting lessons to meet a range of learning styles and developmental needs. The school places a strong emphasis on practical, hands-on and play-based learning activities that help pupils build confidence, independence and a love of learning.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Teacher who is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with additional needs.

Job Description

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

* Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.

* Support pupils aged 8–9 years with Autism and other related needs.

* Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.

* Deliver hands-on, practical and play-based learning activities.

* Monitor, assess and record pupil progress against individual targets.

* Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, parents and external professionals.

* Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and independence.

* Contribute to EHCP reviews and personalised learning plans.

* Maintain high expectations while celebrating every pupil’s achievements.

Essential Requirements

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Primary Education.

* Experience supporting and teaching pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

* Valid Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).

* Right to Work in the UK.

* Strong understanding of SEND practices and inclusive teaching strategies.

* Excellent communication and classroom management skills.

Desirable Skills and Experience

* Previous experience working within a specialist SEN setting.

* Experience supporting pupils with Autism and additional complex needs.

* Understanding of EHCPs and target-based learning.

* Team Teach or positive behaviour support training.

* A creative approach to delivering engaging, practical learning experiences.
