SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (KS3&4) – Tameside Area
Start Date- September

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a welcoming and inclusive Secondary school in the Tameside area

• Morning: You will work within a small KS4 intervention class, supporting targeted learning activities and helping to create a positive, structured environment for a group of children who require additional support.

• Afternoon: You will transition to a KS3 class, working 1:1 with a child with ASD to provide consistent, nurturing support and help them access learning through play-based activities.

• Provide individualised support tailored to the needs of the child

• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver strategies that support learning and emotional regulation

• Foster a calm and supportive atmosphere, using positive behaviour management techniques

• Help implement the child’s EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) targets

• Support transitions between activities and environments to reduce anxiety

• Experience working with children with ASD, particularly in an Secondary or College setting

• A patient, empathetic approach with a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team

• A relevant qualification in childcare, education, or support work is desirable

• A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
